A group of 26 clients of Dar tal-Providenza will get a well-deserved break in Sicily, if a local voluntary organisation can garner enough financial support.

Lava – Living Ability Vivendo Abilita, set up by Maltese artist Denis Calleja and Sicilian art therapist Sabrina Tandurella, are planning a one-week holiday for these persons with disability.

Mr Calleja has just returned from a trip to Sicily where he met the president of the CE.S.A.R.D. (Centro Studi Assistenza Recupero Disabili) to discuss the programme for the Maltese group.

However, this trip can only materialise if travel agents, other societies and companies come forward to give their support to this voluntary organisation.

“When we reach the amount of money needed to take the group to Sicily we will stop collecting,” Mr Calleja promised.

Lava has been instrumental in organising a series of exchange activities between Sicily and Malta for persons with disability.

Recently a group of 44 Sicilians with special needs had the chance to relish new emotions during a one-week holiday in Malta, thanks to Lava and all the organisations who supported this event.

Those who wish to contribute to help support this cause can call on (telephones removed)
